From the inside out
Often your sleep, energy and mood shift first. Outer things, like the skin, tend to change later.
1 · How healing unfolds
In homeopathy, healing is traditionally expected to follow a pattern, first described by Dr Constantine Hering in the 1800s. Knowing it helps you make sense of the changes you notice.
Often your sleep, energy and mood shift first. Outer things, like the skin, tend to change later.
Changes tend to move from the upper body towards the lower body.
Recent concerns tend to ease first. An old, unfinished one may briefly show up again before it settles.
Your body sets its own order. What matters most to your wellbeing often shifts before the smaller things.
For example: if you're sleeping better and feel calmer, but your skin hasn't changed yet, that can still be part of the picture. Bring it to your follow-up and we'll look at it together.
2 · Along the way
Everyone responds differently. These are the most common experiences, and what to do with each one.
Things ease little by little. You might sleep better, feel calmer or have more energy before your main concern shifts.
What to doKeep going as directed and jot down what you notice.
Change can be so natural that it's easy to miss. Looking back at your notes often shows more than you remember.
What to doCheck your notes, then bring them to your follow-up.
In homeopathic tradition, symptoms can feel a little stronger for a short time before they settle. It usually passes quickly.
What to doPause your remedy, note what you notice and let me know.
Something you had in the past may show up again for a short while, usually milder than before. Homeopaths see this as part of the direction of cure.
What to doNote it and tell me, and we'll look at it together.
A symptom you've never had before may mean the remedy isn't the best match, or that you're dosing too often.
What to doStop taking the remedy and contact me.
Sometimes something is getting in the way, or a different remedy is needed. That's what follow-ups are for.
What to doKeep your notes and book your follow-up so we can look again.
3 · If it feels uncomfortable
You're never on your own with it. Here's exactly what to do.
Stop taking it for now. Remedies can always be restarted.
What you're noticing, when it started, and what makes it better or worse.
Email me with what you've noticed and I'll guide you on what to do next.
4 · How long it takes
Short-term
For recent, everyday things, people often notice change fairly quickly. Space your doses out as you start to feel better.
Ongoing
Things that have built up over time usually change gradually. We review progress at follow-ups, usually 4 to 8 weeks apart.
Everyone is different, so there's no set timeline. Your follow-ups are where we look at your progress together.
A remedy keeps working after you take it, so we give it time to show what it's doing before we review. The gap is set to suit you. After an initial consultation there's also a check-in call at about 2 weeks, so you can ask any questions along the way.
For more complex cases that need a little more attention.
At the start of treatment, or when a bit of closer care helps.
When you're happy to go a little longer, continuing progress gently while the remedy keeps working.
5 · The pillars of health
In homeopathy, healing is understood to come from within, from what Hahnemann called the vital force: your body's own drive to find balance. A remedy is a gentle nudge. The everyday pillars of health are what your vital force has to work with.
Deep, regular sleep is when your body rests, repairs and resets.
Simple, whole food and plenty of water give your body what it needs.
Gentle, regular movement, time outdoors and a little sunshine.
Ongoing stress and worry wear you down. Small daily moments of calm add up.
Feeling supported by the people around you matters for your wellbeing.
Less alcohol, smoking and other habits that drain your energy.
Why it matters in homeopathy
Hahnemann wrote that a good practitioner needs to know what stands in the way of recovery, and how to remove it. Homeopaths call these obstacles to cure or maintaining causes: things in daily life, like ongoing poor sleep, constant stress or a draining habit, that keep pulling you off balance.
A remedy can only do so much if the same thing keeps knocking you down. That's why, in your consultation, I ask about your sleep, food, energy, stress and routines. Together we look at small, realistic changes alongside your remedy, so your vital force has the best ground to work from.
It isn't about being perfect. One small change at a time is enough.
6 · Help it along
A few words each day about sleep, energy, mood and your main concern.
Bang the bottle on your palm 3 times, then 3 drops in a clean mouth. Your plan always comes first.
Store it away from strong smells, direct sun, heat and phones, and keep strong flavours away from your dose.
Not sure what you're noticing? Email me. Small questions are always welcome.
Feeling a bit emotional is common. Be gentle with yourself, and reach out if it feels heavy.
Your 2-week check-in call and follow-ups are where we answer questions and adjust your plan as you change.

Screenshot this card and fill it in each day.
For short-term (acute) symptoms, pause and wait as you start to feel better, and only take another dose if the same symptoms come back. For ongoing (chronic) concerns, keep to your prescription plan.
It's common to feel a little emotional as things shift. If it feels heavy or doesn't pass, please get in touch, and call Lifeline on 13 11 14 if you need support now.
Please tell me about everything you take, including medicines and supplements.
Write it down and email me. That's what I'm here for.
