From booking to follow-up
How it works.
Every consultation is online by video, so you can join from home anywhere in Australia. Here's the whole journey, step by step.
- 1
Before
Book online and fill in the consent form and questionnaire at least 24 hours before. It helps to jot down what you've noticed: when things started, what makes them better or worse, and how your sleep, appetite and mood have been.
- 2
During
A relaxed, unhurried conversation on video. A first consultation is 90 minutes, so there's time for your whole story. Your video link is emailed 15 minutes before we start.
- 3
After
I study everything you've shared and send you a written remedy plan, usually within a few days, with clear directions.
- 4
Check-in and follow-up
A free 15-minute check-in about two weeks later for any questions, then a follow-up every 4 to 8 weeks to review and adjust your plan.
How homeopathy sees you
Not just your symptoms. The whole you.
Two people can come to me with the same complaint and leave with different remedies. That's because homeopathy matches the remedy to the person, not just the problem. So I'll ask about all of you.
The conversation
What we'll talk about.
Every consultation is different, but most follow a similar shape. I start wide and let you lead, then gently fill in the details. You don't need to prepare answers: often the things that matter most surprise people.
Tell me about you
I usually begin with something open, like "Tell me about yourself." Where you choose to start tells me a lot.
Your main concern
In your own words, from the very beginning: how it feels, what it stops you doing, and what the worst part is for you.
What started it
The moment things changed, whether a virus, a fall, a loss or a stressful time. Homeopaths call this "ailments from".
Your story
Your health from birth to now, the big events in your life, and your family's health history. A rough timeline is perfect.
How you cope
What you do when you're upset or stressed, who you lean on, and where the feelings go when things are hard.
What matters to you
Your family, your work, the people you look after, and what's expected of you. Your values are part of your picture.
Fears, dreams and sleep
What worries you, what's on your mind at 3am, and any dreams that keep coming back.
The general you
Are you hot or chilly? How's your energy across the day? Your appetite, cravings, thirst, and how you sleep, from getting into bed to getting up.
Anything else?
I always finish with "Is there anything I haven't asked that you think matters?" and "What would you like from this?"
How I listen
Your words, your way.
Homeopathic case-taking is a special kind of listening. Here's what that looks like.
Open questions
You'll often hear me say "Tell me more about that" or "What's that like for you?" There are no right or wrong answers.
Your own words
If you say you feel "stuck", we'll talk about stuck. The exact words you choose are some of the most useful clues.
Pauses are welcome
Some of the best answers come after a moment of quiet. Take your time, and share as much or as little as you like.
Why timelines matter
Your story has a shape.
Health rarely changes out of nowhere. Laying your life out on a timeline gives us a bird's-eye view: what came first, what followed, and how things are connected. It helps me plan the order in which we work.
Rough is fine
"Around age 7" or "the year we moved" is perfect. You don't need exact dates.
Ask your family
Parents can often fill in your birth and early childhood, and family health history.
Include feelings
Big emotional times belong on the timeline too, not just illnesses.
The question I always ask
"I've never been well since…"
Have you ever said, "I haven't been the same since…"? In homeopathy, that moment is gold. It's often the point where your body's balance shifted, and it can point us towards the remedy that matches you.
Homeopaths call the trigger "ailments from": the thing your symptoms came from. It can be physical or emotional, recent or many years ago.
Emotional
- Grief or the loss of someone you love
- A shock, fright or bad news
- Disappointment or heartbreak
- Anger or hurt kept inside
- A long stretch of stress or overwork
Physical
- A virus, flu or glandular fever
- An injury, fall or accident
- Surgery or an anaesthetic
- Having a baby
- Getting chilled, soaked or overheated
The little details
Five clues I listen for.
The small details are what make your picture yours. These are the five clues that help me most.
What started it
The cause or moment it began: your "ailments from".
Where exactly
Left or right, does it move, does it spread?
How it feels
Throbbing, burning, aching, stabbing, heavy? Your own words are best.
Better or worse for
Called modalities: anything that changes how it feels.
What comes with it
Other things that happen at the same time, like thirst or chills.
Modalities: better or worse for?
Notice what changes how you feel. Here are the kinds of things I'll ask about.
Why it matters: one person's headache is better for lying still in a dark room. Another's is better for fresh air and a walk. Same complaint, different picture, often a different remedy.
Strange, rare and peculiar
Your quirks are welcome here.
The odd little things you might never mention to a doctor are often the most useful to a homeopath. We even have a name for them: strange, rare and peculiar symptoms.
- Always sleeping with one foot out of the covers
- Craving salt, or ice-cold water, or sour things
- Feeling better by the sea, or worse before a storm
- Being thirsty with a fever, or not thirsty at all
- A dream that keeps coming back
If it seems too small or too silly to mention, mention it.
After your consultation
What happens next.
- 1
I study your case
I go back over everything you've shared, compare it with the homeopathic materia medica and repertory, and choose the remedy that best matches your whole picture.
- 2
Your written plan
Usually within a few days: your remedy, how to take it, and what to watch for. You can order your remedies through the shop.
- 3
Your 2-week check-in
A short call to answer questions and hear what you've noticed. Keeping notes makes this much easier.
- 4
Follow-ups
Every 4 to 8 weeks we look at what has shifted, and in what order, and adjust your plan. See what healing can look like.
Not a first consultation?
Other kinds of consult.
Acute consults
20 minutes, focused on what's happening now: when it started, how it feels, what makes it better or worse, and what comes with it.
Follow-ups
What has changed since last time, and in what order? How did you feel after the remedy? Anything new, or anything old coming back?
Children
I talk with you as the parent, from pregnancy and birth onwards. Watching how your child plays and behaves tells me a lot too.
Fertility program
A first consultation for each of you, so the plan looks after you both, then follow-ups across four months.
Before your consultation
How to prepare.
Have ready
- A list of your medicines and supplements, with doses if you know them
- A rough timeline of your health and big life events
- Notes on what makes things better or worse
- Any recent test results you'd like to share
On the day
- A quiet, private spot where you can talk freely
- A phone, tablet or computer with a camera
- A glass of water, and tissues just in case
- Time afterwards to rest, if you can
For little ones
- You'll share their story, from pregnancy and birth onwards
- Watching how they play and behave helps too
- Bring their favourite toy so they stay settled
- Notes from you and your partner are gold
Feeling comfortable
A safe, unhurried space.
No judgement
There are no wrong answers, and nothing is too small, too big or too strange to share.
Your pace
Share as much or as little as you're comfortable with. We can pause any time.
Private
Everything you tell me stays confidential, and your notes are stored securely.
Please tell me about any medicines or supplements you take, so I can see the whole picture.
Good to know.
How long is the first consultation?
The initial consultation is 90 minutes ($180). Follow-ups are shorter reviews ($90), usually 4 to 8 weeks later, and there's a 2-week check-in call in between.
What if I can't remember dates?
That's completely normal. Rough ages or "around the time we moved" are perfect. We can fill in more at your follow-ups.
Do I need to stop my usual medicines?
No. Keep taking your usual medicines, and just let me know what you take.
Will you tell me which remedy you've chosen?
Yes. Your written plan includes your remedy and clear directions on how to take it.
What if I get emotional?
That's okay, and it happens often. Talking about your story can bring things up. We'll take it gently, at your pace.
Something has just come up. Do I need a full consultation?
Not always. For something recent or sudden, a 20-minute acute consult ($50) may suit you better.
