Getting started

Homeopathy, explained.

Everything you need to know, in about two minutes.

A natural, whole-person approach to wellbeing, used for over 200 years.

Energy medicine

Working with your energy.

Homeopathy is an energy medicine that stimulates the body to heal.

In homeopathic philosophy, each of us has a vital force: the natural energy that keeps body, mind and emotions in balance. A well-matched remedy is chosen to work with that energy, which is why homeopathy looks at the whole person rather than one symptom.

The basics

What is homeopathic medicine?

A system of natural remedies, each one matched to the unique way your symptoms show up.

A different way of looking

Many approaches ask "what is the problem?". Homeopathy also asks "how is it showing up for you?" Two people with a cough might be described very differently: one dry and tickly at night, the other rattly and worse in the morning. Each picture points to a different remedy.

What a remedy is made from

Remedies come from natural sources, such as chamomile, arnica and marigold flowers, minerals like salt and calcium, and other substances from nature. Each is prepared in careful steps of dilution and shaking.

Who uses it

Families, practitioners and people around the world use homeopathy for everyday moments at home and alongside their usual care. Many like that the drops are simple to take, even for little ones.

How it fits with your life

You can use it at home for short-term, everyday moments, or work with a homeopath for things that linger. Either way, you're looking at the whole person.

The big ideas

How it works.

Like with like

A remedy is matched to the symptoms it's traditionally linked with.

The whole you

Mood, sleep and energy matter as much as the main symptom.

Small doses

A few drops, spaced out as things settle.

Where it came from

Homeopathy was developed in the late 1700s by Samuel Hahnemann, a German doctor. Today it is used by families and practitioners in many countries around the world.

Like with like

The central idea is that a substance which brings on certain symptoms in a large amount is traditionally used, in a tiny diluted amount, for a similar picture of symptoms. That's why the details of how you feel matter so much.

Why the whole you matters

Two people with the same complaint can describe it very differently. One feels better for warmth, the other for fresh air; one wants company, the other wants to be left alone. These small differences guide the choice of remedy.

Why small doses

Remedies are taken a little at a time. The usual pattern is a few doses close together at first, then spaced further apart as things settle, and stopping once you feel well.

Where remedies come from

Remedies are made from plants (like chamomile and arnica), minerals (like salt and calcium) and other natural sources. Each one has a Latin name, so you'll see names like Arnica montana or Chamomilla.

What the numbers mean

A remedy is diluted and shaken in careful steps, a process called potentisation. The number on a remedy, like 6C or 30C, tells you how many times this has been done. A higher number isn't "stronger"; choosing the right remedy matters more than the number.

Vibe remedies

The Vibe shop sends single remedies as Fibonacci Homochords (ten potencies of the same remedy in one bottle) unless you ask for another potency. In consultations, I prescribe other potencies too. Learn about potency.

What's in the bottle

The remedy, in a base of brandy and distilled water, in a 15 mL amber glass bottle with a dropper or dripolator lid.

Everyday moments at home

For short-term things that have come on recently, like a knock at the park, a bite at the beach or a restless night. You can choose a remedy yourself with the remedy finder, or email me for a 20-minute acute consult if you'd like help.

Things that linger

For concerns that have been around for a while or keep coming back. An initial consultation takes about 90 minutes and looks at your health history, energy, sleep, mood and more, then we make a plan together with follow-ups.

Your first remedy

Four simple steps.

Read more about each step

1. Notice

Jot down what happened and when, what it feels like (sore, stinging, throbbing, itchy), what makes it better or worse (warmth, cool, rest, movement), and how the person is in themselves: clingy, cranky, quiet or restless.

2. Match

Look for the remedy whose traditional picture fits most closely, paying attention to the "better or worse for" details and the mood. The how to choose a remedy guide walks you through it.

3. Take

Bang the bottle firmly against the palm of your other hand 3 times, then take three drops under the tongue, in a clean mouth, about 10 minutes away from food and drink. Keep the dropper from touching the mouth. For little ones, drops in a little water work well.

4. Watch

Wait and see. If nothing changes after a few doses, stop and look at the picture again. If things improve, space the doses out and stop once you feel well. The dosing guide has a simple flowchart.
